According to Alakhbar’s report published on 16 January 2024, Georgia opened a consular office in Mauritania. Georgian Ambassador to Türkiye, Giorgi Janjgava, expressed his country’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Mauritania. The ambassador identified tourism, agriculture, fisheries and transport as potential areas for collaboration. He also highlighted Mauritanian students’ interest in studying at Georgian universities. The report named Chighaly Ould AMARA as Georgia’s Honorary Consul in Mauritania, noting the ambassador’s recognition of his personal qualities and previous achievements.
